1. Safety Precautions

Before using Wuji Hand, please carefully read the following safety precautions to ensure safe operation of the device and personnel safety.

1.1 Power Supply Safety

• Power Specification Requirements (Per Hand): 12V - 20V DC, standard 12V 20A adapter

  Warning: When using your own power supply, follow these specifications:

  • 12V - 20V DC
  • 420 W peak power (10 ms transient)
  • Current capacity of at least 10 A

• Wiring Operation Standards: Check whether the XT30 power interface is loose, oxidized, or damaged before use; confirm the power supply positive and negative poles before wiring, strictly prohibit reverse connection; strictly prohibit unplugging power cables and communication cables while Wuji Hand is running

1.2 Firmware Update Safety

• Prohibit Power Disconnection During Updates: When the indicator light shows blue solid (BLDR_RUNNING), Wuji Hand is performing firmware upgrade. Strictly prohibit power disconnection or cable reconnection to avoid system damage
• Use Official Firmware: Use firmware provided by WUJI TECH for upgrades

1.3 Mechanical Operation Safety

• Prevent Pinching and Injury: Strictly prohibit reaching hands or body near Wuji Hand during motion, pay attention to avoid pinching during operation
• Prevent Falling: Take care to prevent Wuji Hand from falling during transport, placement, or operation, as falls may damage structural parts, joints, and internal components
• Prohibit Forceful Manipulation: This product does not have back-drivability. Do not forcefully manipulate fingers with external force to avoid damaging joints or sensors
• Properly Remove the Original Glove: When removing the Wuji Hand original glove, first run glove_donning.py from the Wuji Hand SDK joint control examples to smoothly drive the hand into the disassembly pose (thumb adducted across the palm, other fingers nearly extended). Do not pull forcefully to avoid damaging finger joints
• Parameter Adjustment Safety: Before modifying default motion parameters, ensure safety to avoid accidental injury
• Avoid Damage to Valuable Items: Do not grasp fragile or high-value items to avoid economic loss
• Collaborative Use Protection: When used with robotic arms and other equipment, collision prevention is required; although this product has impact-resistant structure, it cannot cover all vulnerable situations
• Work Area Safety: Ensure no fragile, flammable, or other hazardous items in the dexterous hand's work area

1.4 Environmental Requirements

• Operating Temperature: Recommended use in room temperature environment (15-30°C)

• Overtemperature Protection: Wuji Hand provides two-level thermal protection. When joint temperature reaches 85°C, the effective effort limit is automatically reduced to 70% of the user-set value; at 93°C, it is reduced to 40%. Recovery uses a 4°C hysteresis threshold, and the effort limit automatically recovers as temperature falls

  Warning: The housing will heat up under high temperature conditions. Do not touch to prevent burns

• Waterproof and Dustproof: The dexterous hand body is limited to use in dry and clean environments to prevent liquid, oil mist, and dust from entering

• Good Ventilation: Ensure sufficient heat dissipation space around Wuji Hand

• Magnetic Interference Protection: Joint areas should be kept away from metal or magnetic objects to avoid interfering with encoders or damaging magnets

1.5 Cable and Ribbon Cable Protection

• Ribbon Cable Protection: Finger surface ribbon cables are fragile. Avoid scratching, squeezing, or collision when not wearing soft gloves
• Cable Routing: Avoid pulling and sharp bends, provide slack and keep away from sharp corners, heat sources, and moving parts
• USB Port Protection: Pull out the USB cable horizontally to avoid lifting or sideways pulling, preventing damage to the port solder joints
