Read this page before using Wuji Glove. Wearing it incorrectly or using it in an unsuitable environment damages the sensors and the EMF modules.

Putting On and Taking Off

The glove takes load at the palm and the finger pads. The wrist area and the EMF modules don’t take pulling force.
  • When putting the glove on, apply force at the palm and don’t pull on the wrist area.
  • When taking it off, apply force on the fabric at the finger pads and don’t pull on the EMF modules or the back of the hand.
  • Adjust the data acquisition board position with the arm strap, and keep the strap from being too tight.
Before connecting to software, keep fingers slightly bent and relaxed, without crossing the fingertip EMF modules or making a fist. That pose is also the starting pose for hand model calibration. For the step-by-step procedure with images, see Wear the Wuji Glove in Quick Start.

Environmental Requirements

  • Avoid use in humid environments.
  • Don’t over-bend the sensor areas.
  • Store in a dry, cool place.

Cable and Connector Protection

The USB-C to USB-C cable between the data acquisition board and the USB-C to Ethernet power adapter needs matching orientation at both ends. Both ends carry a white rectangular label on the same side. If the cable goes into the board label side up, it also goes into the adapter label side up, otherwise the link carries power without data. When integrating into a fixed workstation or a robot arm, leave slack in the routing for the board and the cable so large hand motions don’t pull on it. For routing and mounting requirements, see Mechanical Integration.

Capability Boundaries

For sampling rates, accuracy, and frame conventions of the tactile, EMF, and IMU streams, see Specifications and Coordinate Frames. Accuracy depends on the hand model under the current SDK user profile. Without calibration, joint angles and fingertip poses carry a larger error. For how to calibrate, see Calibration and Configuration.
